Covid-19 Updates

January 2021

Happy New Year to you all ~ we look forward to welcoming back our guests to enjoy the wonderful Northumberland coast and countryside when it is deemed safe to do so.

We want you to feel safe and comfortable when you visit and have therefore strict cleaning protocols in place and having completed Covid-19 cleaning risk assessment and training.

We offer a 100% refund guarantee for bookings affected by national Covid travel restrictions and local Tier restrictions (Tier 3 and Tier 4) imposed by the government and local authorities. Please see our terms and conditions for more details.

5th November 2020

Due to the latest government restrictions, we are sorry that Ceolwulph Cottage is closed for holiday bookings between 5th November until 2nd December 2020 (the re-opening date is scheduled to be 3rd December 2020 but this may change in line with any government announcements). If you have a query about your booking, please do get in touch with us.

If you are planning to visit when restrictions are lifted in England, we are here to help you with any queries that you may have. We can’t wait to welcome you back to Ceolwulph Cottage in December.

Thanks to all our previous guests that have stayed at Ceolwulph Cottage ~ we very much appreciate your support and would love to see you again when it’s safe to return.

October 2020

Northumberland continues to be classed a ‘High Level – Tier 2 Area‘ Area and therefore bookings for this October must be for one household only bookings and most likely this rule will also apply for the whole of November 2020 too.

Ceolwulph Cottage remains open, as do the local restaurants, cafes and pubs (latest closing times set to 10pm). Please visit our availability HERE for the remaining 2020 autumn dates.

Our super Northumberland golden sandy beaches stretch for miles and miles for all to enjoy at a safe distance from others. You can walk straight out of the cottage door and be on the beach in a leisurely 15 minutes.

There are also plenty of interesting sights to view as you walk in the locality, by the sea or in the countryside, from the impressive local Warkworth Castle sitting at the top of Warkworth’s main street to the giant, dominant Bamburgh Castle further north with lovely villages dotted along the way for teas, cake, coffee, garden visits, art works at local galleries, Holy Island and fascinating towns like Alnwick and Berwick-upon-Tweed which can be explored outdoors on foot.

If you have any queries about your booking or would like further information about our covid measures, please do get in touch via our Contact Form or via telephone 07896248469.

Rest assured, knowing that Ceolwulph Cottage has been awarded the ‘WE’RE GOOD TO GO’ industry standard by the official tourist board for England, VisitEngland

Updated 18th September 2020

New government guidelines on meeting with others have been introduced to Northumberland. We are now are classed as a ‘High Level’ area and have additional local restrictions. This means that we can only welcome ONE household only and no more than 6 people to Ceolwulph Cottage (the cottage only sleeps 5, so it’s the households mixing that we need to check and to discuss those bookings with those affected).

Restaurants, pubs and other eateries remain open but must close by 10pm and some restrictions apply with regards to people remaining at their table, etc. It also became mandatory for our business sector to have a system to collect NHS Test and Trace data, and to keep this for 21 days – we are doing this in a safe way at the point of booking.

Contact us on 07896248469 if your booking consists of two household and you have booked Ceolwulph Cottage for September, October and November 2020.

Please visit our availability HERE if you wish to select alternative dates but please do contact us in the first instance for bookings with more imminent arrivals.

August 2020

We have been busy at Ceolwulph Cottage and have welcomed both new and regular guests to the cottage and Warkworth.

It’s great to see people being able to enjoy the sandy beaches and Northumbrian countryside with its spacious landscapes, beautiful scenery, historic castles and wildlife on the estuaries and riverbanks.

We are adhering to government guidelines to keep our guests and staff safe. We thank you for your support!

For all updated government guidelines can we direct you to the government website HERE.

July 2020

We re-opened on the 10th July and welcomed our lovely guests back to Ceolwulph Cottage. It was a delight to greet our guests again and to know that they were enjoying their long-awaited holidays.

The sun has been out and many relaxing walks along our sandy beaches and beautiful coastlines have been enjoyed by our two legged guests and also the four legged ones with wet noses and waggy tails, not to mention the dips in the sea and fun making sand-castles on the beach by one and all. Socially distanced of course!

Please do familiarise yourself with all the precautions we have put in place. These hygiene procedures are in line with government guidelines but we have also enhanced our already thorough cleaning routines. Our high housekeeping standards are often praised by our outgoing guests and we now have implemented even more extensive procedures to help protect us all.

Rest assured, knowing that Ceolwulph Cottage has been awarded the WE’RE GOOD TO GO industry standard by VisitEngland.

To be eligible for the ‘Good to Go’ accreditation, Ceolwulph Cottage had to meet Visit England’s criteria, including:

Supplying a risk assessment;

Being able to provide clear evidence that relevant procedures and measures are in place and that staff training has taken place;

Completion of a self-assessment and a signing up to code of conduct that will include a commitment to continuing to update procedures and measures as guidelines change.
